Performative Body Modifications
(ANALOG COLLAGE PAINTING)
Armor Paintings are performative body modifications that deploys the aesthetics of Turkish culture as eclectic.
I start without a blueprint, working outwards from small cutout pieces of my acrylic paintings. I adjust to the body in real time. Borrowing from the period that I performed on stage to create hybrid versions of animistic spiritual liaising or traditional uses of theatre masks, I try to create pieces that conceal the face and create an extension for transformation.
